Facts about the Disorder
1. May be Associated with Autism, PDD-NOS, Asperger’s Syndrome, or Select Mutism
2. Approximately one in one hundred fifty children are diagnosed with a form of PDD

Symptoms of the Disorder
1. Delayed Onset of Language Development
2. Difficulty engaging in conversationa and/or social activities
3. Inappropriate use of language
4. Misinterpetation of spoken language
5. Decreased eye contact
6. Atypical language development
7. Atypical motor stereotypies

Diagnosis
1. A referral to a neurologist and/or developmental peditrician will be made as appropriate
2. A diagnosis is based on a specialist’s findings
3. A Formal and Informal Speech and Language Evalution
4. Parent Report/Intake
