Facts about the Disorder
1. Articulation and Phonological Disorders are children’s difficulty in producing certain speech sounds.
2. Can be either a Functional or Organic Disorder.
3. More males than females tend to have Articulation and Phonological Disorders
4. Intelligence is not related to Articulation and Phonological Disorders.
Treatment Options or Methods
1. Individual and/or Group Therapy May be Recommended depending on the severity of the disorder and age of the child to teach the correct production of target sounds
Symptoms of the Disorder
1. Difficulty producing age appropriate sounds
2. Difficulty being understood by adults and peers
3. Difficulty identifying sounds with appropriate letters
Diagnosis
1. A diagnosis would be based upon the findings of a Complete Evaluation
2. A Formal and Informal Speech Evaluation,
3. Parent Report
4. Child Intake
5. Further recommendations may be made as appropriate
